We were soo lucky to have Grandpa come and visit us.
We managed to fit in so many fun things.
Salmon fishing, Sabastian going both bike riding and motorbike riding with Grandpa.
Dinner and just good old quality time.

Jack had a kids platter at Riverside Cafe. They make half an egg into a boat.
Jack as usual had to be creative. He didn't want to eat the egg, so he got some of the edible flowers on his plate to dress up his egg boat.

I do not appear often in this blog, but had to have Marc take a photo of this.
I need to explain.
Last night Marc and I found ourselves pushed out of bed by not one, but two short people (aka children).
Miss Molly woke up with a "runny nose". and tottered off to the bathroom to blow it. She came back with wadds of toilet paper.
Being her attentve mother I gave her a cuddle and settled down to sleep.
It was only in the morning we discovered (which apparently Molly knew but as usual did not panic or complain about), that the runny nose was a blood nose. Sheet duvet, PJ's "the lot".
As we had just done a spring clean and were waiting for the new bedding from the church to arrive I had to resort to my backup pillowcase.

Dad took time off work today to sort out council stuff. (These things take time). The benefit was a family swim at Tapu Bay with the little kids before dinner. Sabastian was at sailing in Nelson. As usual Molly played beautifully to the camera. I even managed to grab one of Jack.

This week we were fortunate enough to have a visit from Grandpa.
We spent the day visiting the aquarium, had lunch, a relaxed afternoon, and then a BBQ dinner with Grandpa and Denny.
We manged to launch Shark Bait just before dinner. I don't know about anyone else but I was not ready to have her botttom scratched so all care was taken.
The wind was minimal and Liam ended up being the motor to keep her moving, but boy did she look good!!
Grandpa even got to drive the tractor home. And we toasted her launching with Massy Dactor Savignon Blanc. Very appropriate.
Thanks for a great day Grandpa. Lets do it again soon (with a little more wind).

OOh I forgot to mention that Jack crashed BIG TIME with the karts. Terrible parents we are, we just about died laughing. Next round they bought out more tires for him. He did so well, and still got back on for another go. Go Jack!!!

This weekend we went camping at Quinneys bush with our friends Kate and Michael.
Here are some photos.
The camp ground has a river (which Molly tired to drown in, and did succeed in drowning Kate's mobile phone as she rescued her), with a great rope swing, pool and a big slide. The camp ground has a massive water slide, and throughout the camp are lots and lots of amusements like see saws, swings, flying foxes....
Here are some fun photos of our wonderful weekend.
I think the great thing was that between our 6 children we were able to relax, as they all looked after each other.
There were also karts, an animal farm, a skate park, and we found out later a motobike track (Sam is booked for that next time). Dogs were also welcome so we took along Stella,Kate and Michael's dog.
Marc was the most relaxed I had seen him in ages!!
Jack was in his element catching whitebait in the river (by hand).
Molly had her best friend Harriet.
George, Liam, and Sabastian the big boys.
We toasted marshmellows on the fire in the rain. Thanks Michael!!

Shark bait has gone to Nelson to have her bottom painted a beautiful scarlett red.
She has been there a week, and we are still waiting. Unfortunately there is a 4.5 million dollar boat parked outside the vents from the paint room, and she is white. Painting will have to start when she is moved. I don't think the owner would appreciate a light dusting of red.
This is how she looked when she left. Still a few varnishes left and another coat of white, but she is scrubbing up well.
Goal is to have her in the water for Christmas.

OK so Marc hates me calling him old man. I guess the more it annoys the more I try to push the buttons.
Today Marc is 45. It was hilarious this morning. The kids went in to sing happy birthday to dad. The second photo shows them as they suddenly went into the clapping for each year after the happy birthday song. They all clapped and counted to ......46. I don't think Marc even noticed he was still stunned I think that they did the clapping for each year.
The other photo is a picture of Liam's lovely painting he did for Marc. The photo does not do it justice, it is amazing. He is a very talented artist.

24 hours in the Wilson house.
Sabastian comes home from school with a cough and a headache.
Molly has a sore stomach.
Jack has his headache and sore stomach.
Sabastian does not get to sleep until 2am.
Molly wakes up with croup and sore stomach.
Jack sleepwalks out the back door.
I am working night shift.
I send Sabastian up to the bus stop to escort the little ones home, he comes off his bike and brings home half of the road in his elbow with a gash that is too mutilated to stitch (I resisted photos as I know one person who will faint at the sight of it, even though her daughter will probably be fascinated)
Rock on 2010 I say. I have had enough of this year!!!

Work continues on Shark Bait. Some photos of the fine wood work going on. We spent about 7 hours on her today. A lesson in fibre glassing for me, amongst other things. The capping is teak, and the seats are rimu. Can't wait to see them sanded and stained!!

Last night Jack and Molly decided to have a spa. After they got out we were just inside, and Marc suddenly started laughing saying Sully's fallen in the spa.
We all missed it but apparently MArc had seen a wave in the pool and next thing two desperate paws reaching over the side. Sully managed to drag himself out in about 2 seconds.
A very embarrased cat then disappeared for about half an hour, and returned in the following shape. Needless to say he spent quite some time under the covers of our bed last night warming up. A place he never likes to be.

Marc took us away this weekend to Hanmer Springs for my birthday. It is a beautiful village surrounded by snow capped mountains. Below are some photos of our time there. There was alot of time spent in the thermal hot pools, and we finally got a family shot of us all. The first photo is my favourite.
On the last night Marc and I went to a restaurant just next to the hotel, and left Sabastian in charge. It was lovely.

A few days ago I went to a funeral.
This wonderful lady was someone I worked with a few years ago in Nelson.
I will never forget meeting her at a local fireworks event, and how friendly and welcoming she was to me and my family.
She was the mother of 5 boys. Aged about 12-20. (She was 47)
She was diagnosed with breast cancer, and went through this around the same time as her eldest son battled leukemia.
Unforunately she lost her battle with cancer and passed away about 6 weeks after being diagnosed with secondary cancer.
When I moved back to Nelson, this woman was the one person who made me feel so welcome. Even before I knew of her illness I remembered her for that.
I came home on Thursday and made a point to spend more time with my children.
I talked with SAM and we both agreed to try to be more positive in life.
One thing a friend of hers said when we caught up after the service was "I thought she was my best friend, but now I realise everybody was her best friend". That is exactly what she was. Everbody's best friend.

I had to take a photo of the two shortest people in the house today as they headed off to school. They are growing so big so quickly. Decked out in new boots and snuggled up in sweatshirts. Weather here is very wet. All the locals complain because rain is usually minimal. Doing nights I love tucking up into bed with the rain on the roof.
Note to self; Need to take photos from children's height not above as they appear somewhat shorter and wider than in real life.

Jack went off so excited to a birthday party today. After days of planning and counting down sleeps the day arrived. 45 minutes into the fun and Jack went nose first onto a step. Very sore, but with a few checks we think it isn't broken. At least it isn't crooked.

From the day Molly was born she has hidden under her blankets. I remember her as a newborn baby, and I would constantly be pulling her sheets off her face, that she had pulled up. Still to this day.Molly sleeps with anything over her head that she can. I think she gets it from her Uncle Clyde.

Easter fun

This weekend we spent the night at friends in Nelson. After a lovely evening, and the Easter bunny, we went off to the Mapua Easter fair.
We have not been for about 5 years, and boy has it become busy.
We hardley got to see anything, and Jack and Molly were both pretty tired and grumpy. The highlight, was Jack going on the trampoline bungy thing. He has been taught well by his big brother and very quickly started doing flips.

Wii Wii Wii all the way home

Well thanks to my technical advisor (aka SAM). Our Wii was set up within an hour.
Jack and Molly were told to have a shower while we finished and before they could start playing. As you can see, they couldn't wait to get into it.
Jack is the master at bowling, and picked up tennis really well. Molly was getting the hang of serving, and both are looking at trying some different games today.

Yesterday we were spoiled with a very special present from Aunty Mimi, Uncle Clyde and Sofia. A Nintendo Wii.
Here are the photos of the kids opening it. Sabastian's face was great. The little kids not quite sure of what it was, so I asked Sabastian to take them to the Wii website and show them what it was. Next thing here is Molly practising her balancing skills in the middle of the room.

Jack. Molly, Marc and Grandad went fishing yesterday at Separation Point. This is a photo of Grandad's schnapper. Jack caught one just a little bit smaller on his rod. It certainly stood up to the large fish, although Marc reckons he lost two bigger than Gandad's when they took the whole rig with them.
Jack used his new bait Grandpa gave him, and these big schnapper seemed to love it, but were cunning enough to just bite off the heads and tails, leaving the very important hook alone.

Molly however jumped on the bus without looking back. Jack managed a wave, and Molly didn't even look at her poor mum and dad.
I guess on the positive side we have managed to raise an independant self confident little girl.

Well Saturday Miss Molly had some friends over to celebrate her birthday. We had the bouncy castle, the party food, and Miss Molly was well and truley spoiled.
After the party we went to Nelson to spend the night with friends, and the kids got to enjoy their first chocolate fondue.
I was absolutely gobsmacked when Marc admitted he had never had toasted marshmallows, so another first last night when we lit the fire and toasted marshmallows for Marc.

Obviously Molly doesn't mind, as she sat patiently brushing the knots out of dads hair this evening.

Jack is forever collecting anything that he might possibly be able to create something with. Usually fishing or boat related!
For Christmas Grandma Lyn (probably who he got the hoarding and creating from), gave jack a box of goodies. He has nails, a hammer, floats,paper clips, wire, blue tack etc. to be able to let his immagination run wild.
Every day Jack goes out onto the deck and spend hours creating things. Who said you need TV. Even the simplest trinket will do the trick when it comes to Jack's immagination.
Sabastian asked me why Jack can't walk home from the bus stop by himself. Well after escorting him home one afternoon, we had to stop on numerous occasions while he collected snail shells, stones......He probably wouldn't make it home until dinner.

OK. So the family have not been well. But boy has it been hot here. This seems to be the way they get through the hot days and have recovered from nasty viruses. (I don't know what Sully's excuse is).

Yes this is the lovely nickname given by Marc to Sabastian, who is recovering in Nelson Hospital with pneumonia.
He is currently on oxygen, IV antibiotics, ventolin, nebulisers and physiotherapy.
Marc has kindly offered to stay with Sabastian, which I welcomed considering out of the 6 of us, I am the only one to so far avoid this virus.
Marc is also unwell so the excessive coughing is now confined to the hospital and not my bedroom.
They have a private room, TV, DVD in the room, and ensuite. Marc has a parent room he can use with kitchen, TV, Shower, Toilet and laundry.(considering Sam is the only kid on the ward, not a bad deal). Dinner tonight is roast lamb. Who got the better deal??
While Sabastian is still quite flat and not much appetite, he got his sense of humour back today (which has been missing), when he turned off the light on his mother when she went into the ensuite to use the bathroom (light swtich on the outside). It was pitch black and I couldn't see a thing. He had the silliest grin on his face when I came out.

It's taking so long...

This is Molly's favourite saying at the moment. How many sleeps until my birthday? 25 Molly "but it's taking so long"
We arrived at school for Molly's first school visit. She will go every Wednesday for the morning until her birthday (4 visits in total). Well I wanted to take a photo of her in front of the school before class, and we got the above reaction.
"But I want to see Miss Strong "(teacher).

The next photo is the forced result after informing Molly she could't go to class until she smiled for a photo. Rock on birthday I say!!
